When I was a child I heard all of the stories. Passed down through the generations, slightly changed with each telling. Who knows how the stories were originally told in the way back time of before. Every story has the same theme, the great society is on its way. Stories told to placate the children, make them work for the perfect world they have all been taught is coming. There is a truth in those stories, but not the one that people think it is.
Perfection is not the truth in the stories, no, striving for perfection is truth that has been lost over the years. The divine will not drop perfection down upon us from the sky as a gift, all must strive to make our world more perfect than when they remember it being. The truth, which you will not hear out there in this world has become so twisted that it will never be found again.
Maybe the stories did come from the divine, or maybe some elders created them with a spark of hope, but it doesn't matter now. This world is now moving away from perfection, forced down the path of chaos by the people who preach about the coming perfect world. This is why I wander, this is why I have learned to make my own way; society will feed upon itself until only those who can provide for themselves will be left.
A personal favorite story of mine is 'Kafun the Noble Pauper' This is the first tale I remember being told. It focuses around an older poor man who gives away most of his earnings to the other poor, only to find out that the rich had been pretending to be poor in order to get his money. Instead of confronting the impersonator, the pauper continues to give away his money to the rich man. One day the rich man comes by and asks him why he still gave him the money when the pauper knew he was rich. The poor pauper smiles and says that if the rich man was willing to go through all of the trouble to appear poor to get his money, he must need it more than he did.
